Quantum Biosciences Wins NBEC 2026 Grand Finale at India's Flagship Bio-Innovation Challenge

Awarded top honors at the 9th National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition Grand Finale organized jointly by C-CAMP and BIRAC.

Quantum Biosciences was declared a winner at the Grand Finale of the 9th National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC 2026), India's premier bio-innovation challenge organized by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) in partnership with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).

A Flagship National Bio-Innovation Arena

NBEC is widely recognized as India's largest and most competitive bio-entrepreneurship platform. The 2026 edition attracted over 3,200 startup and innovator applications representing 34 states and union territories across India.

Following exhaustive multi-stage regional pitch rounds, scientific audits, and technical due diligence, 25 finalist ventures were selected to pitch live before an eminent Grand Jury chaired by Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Executive Chairperson, Biocon Group), Dr. Murali Ramachandra (CEO, Aurigene Oncology), and Dr. Taslimarif Saiyed (Director & CEO, C-CAMP).

Pioneering Quantum Bio-Sensing for Organ Protection

Quantum Biosciences presented its breakthrough application of quantum spin relaxometry for real-time cellular screening in acute kidney injury (AKI). Acute kidney damage affects millions of hospitalized patients annually, yet clinical intervention is frequently crippled by delayed detection.

QBS's benchtop analyzer interfaces nanoscale quantum probes directly with patient biofluids, quantifying radical generation and oxidative stress cascades at the single-cell scale without requiring chemical labeling.

The Grand Jury recognized Quantum Biosciences for the elegance of its physics-to-biology interface, the strength of its underlying IP, and the transformative clinical potential of preventive organ injury detection.

“Winning the NBEC Grand Finale is an extraordinary honor. It validates that quantum sensors are not just speculative physics, but a transformative clinical platform capable of saving lives in operating rooms and ICUs.”

Accelerating the Translational Roadmap

In addition to prestigious national recognition, the NBEC Grand Finale win provides Quantum Biosciences with catalytic non-dilutive grant funding, premier bio-incubation infrastructure at C-CAMP, and structured access to leading venture investors and clinical partner networks.

The support will accelerate ongoing multi-center pre-clinical studies and benchtop instrument hardening as QBS advances toward regulatory clinical trials.
